Michigan the Mitten

Last night in class I watched someone use the hand technique to show
where they used to live in Michigan. Everyone was a bit lost as to why
they were showing it using their palm as reference. I have attached a
picture so you can see how much Michigan looks like a mitten. Natives
of Michigan hold up their hand palm out and show others where on the
"mitten" they live.
