Email from Damian Dunn re: Vesuvius Project show

Star show guys. I really enjoyed and learned a lot watching you guys. The greatest thing I took was the importance of creating environment and an activity to solidify the characters' relationship. It is so easy to fall into the trap of making the scene about the activity.

Chris and Mike did an entire 15 minute or so scene which involved two friends (rotating good friend/bad friend), and didn't even mention the fact that they were playing poker until the very end. I was in the booth and my vision was blocked, so I had no idea what they were actually doing. I knew it involved snack items and two guys sitting at a table, but I didn't know that they were playing poker. The game just gave them a natural activity that two friends would engage in while talking, discussing problems, and eating chips. Then they imploded and then the imploding ceased and WOW! Brilliant guys.

The environment that is created and the things that are done are so important to make the characters and there relating to eachother real and truthful, but it is the relationships that exist that must drive the scene.
